is Turning 10! Recipe Contest!

Contest is closed! I will begin cooking the recipes and announce the winner when I’ve tried them all. Thanks for playing!!

In honor of’s 10 year anniversary (June 6th) I’m holding a recipe contest. Not just any recipe, you have to cook something I like. Here are my restrictions:

No bell peppers
No beets
No cheese of any kind
No olives (olive oil is more than okay!!)
As far as meat, only seafood, beef, or chicken

I’m not a baker so if you choose to do a dessert, be aware that I’m not big on liking to measure things! (A word of advice, you’re more likely to win with something I don’t have to bake)

If it is something sweet:
No licorice (or anise)
No coconut
No amaretto

I will make all the recipes submitted to me, following every detail as much as possible. They will be judged by me and, if I need help, my husband and friends. This is in no way an objective contest, you are vying for the love of my taste buds. I am a super taster, they are picky.

Deadline for recipe submission is Tuesday, June 9.

Winners will receive one item of their choice from the FoodPorn store. I will notify winners as soon as I’ve made it through all the recipes. The date will depend on how many submissions I get. Include your e-mail address with your recipe (since you will be e-mailing me the recipes, that will be easy).

Send them to

That’s cheese-ist! :P Not even in pesto, huh? (I suppose I can experiment with that.) Do you object to chorizo?

  2. Chantrelle says:

Chorizo is fine as a flavor component but i don’t want to just eat a big ol’ sausage. And I make cheese-less pesto all the time! :)

  3. Jess says:

Flavor components are what I’m after. Though I may not submit the chorizo thing in any case. I must ponder.

I only recently discovered that I can use walnuts in pesto instead of pine nuts. It has revolutionized my life. I’ve always got walnuts!

  4. Chantrelle says:

You can use *any* nuts! Toasted almonds? Pecans? You name it. You can even use any green herb. I’ve done parsley, marjoram (lots of that), throw in chives. It’s rare, actually, that I even use basil!

  5. vampi says:

the only recipe i can call my own is salsa and guac. is that acceptable for entry?

  6. Chantrelle says:

You can enter anything you want! It may not win but enter away! ;-)

  7. spacedlaw says:

Can you believe I could not access you site all day because the proxy server decided that it was PORN?

  8. Chantrelle says:

I believe it! I get emails about that. A girl on twitter said she couldn’t come here or to bookslut at work. Good thing those filters are working so well.

  9. spacedlaw says:

Would chicken liver be okay? They are chicken but liver is an acquired taste so I thought I would ask.

  10. Chantrelle says:

Oh, ick no…don’t do liver. Glad you asked :)

  11. spacedlaw says:

I thought you might not, you seem to have milder tastes as far as proteins are concerned.

  12. Chantrelle says:

Yup, meat is a relatively recent thing for me, in my adult life at least. Hated it for years and then all of a sudden it sounded good again so I ate a good rare steak and loved it. Go figure.

  13. Marjorie says:

no cheese? bang go my roasted feta and camembert & garlic recipes…
    For that… you get dessert!
