We have a small yard but our pears are espaliered...they grow out along the fence instead of taking up a lot of space. When they're not leafy they look like TV antennae. I bought them already trained but any fruit tree can be trained to grow like that.

I know the lettuce is bolting, I'm just getting so much from my CSA I can't eat it all! I'm going to harvest it to take to the end-of-the-school-year potluck and share the goodness.

Gorgeous!

My blueberries are going crazy too- must be the year for them. I net them and my bush cherries. If the birds want 'em they'll have to fight me for them.

Robyn, how big is your yard? I'm working on my little 1/3 acre city lot and trying to fit in as much food production as I can- lots of smallfruits, going vertical, containers...

I want apples and pears too, but I'm not sure about even the dwarf ones fitting.

AND! Finally saw some actual honeybees among the plants this year. Usually it's all bumblebees and wood bees.

The "tallest lettuce ever" is bolting. Too bad - that means it's about done for the year. Like its close relative the dandelion, the leaves get very bitter once it starts to flower.

I'm jealous of the pears. :)
