Brunch? How about a Pomosa?

Thursday, April 28th, 2011

Turns out we didn’t invent this drink but it sure was amazing! I definitely prefer this to the standard mimosa.

Pomegranates Galore!

Tuesday, October 26th, 2010

What do you do when your dad has 7 acres of pomegranate trees? Make pomegranate juice of course. Then reduce it into a simple syrup for use on a million things!

I seeded 6 pomegranates and put the seeds into the blender. Then pressed the blended mush through a fine mesh strainer.

3 cups pomegranate juice
1 1/2 cups sugar

Reduce until it’s the consistency you want. I think it reduced it down to about 2 cups. We put it on apple crisp (our apple tree went NUTS this year).

Garden Update!

Wednesday, June 2nd, 2010

The garden is in full force. So much so that I can’t keep up with it and my CSA boxes! The thing about having a CSA and a garden is that things, you know, grow at the same time!

Every year we get pomegranate flowers but they never fruit. I think they get too much water here but they’re pretty nonetheless:

It’s been a long wet winter and spring but the plants are really happy to be out of the drought. Everything is beautiful.
