Cod with Prosciutto and Asparagus

I had some cod I picked up from the Farmer’s Market. It’s not rock cod, it’s a local Monterey Bay cod that is small and thin. The name has escaped me. But it’s a light, white fillet. This recipe serves 2. 3/4 lb white fish fillet 2T butter 2 garlic cloves, finely minced, mushed with…

Why I Cook

Michael Ruhlman, a man whose books have inspired me tremendously, asked people to answer this simple question, “Why do you cook?”  I love this idea. I’d love to extend that question to anyone who reads this as well. I made sure I wrote this before I started reading other people’s answers. I didn’t want to…

Kim Boekbinder is one half of the bewitching Vermillion Lies and is currently recording a solo album. Her voice is unique, her talent amazing. I fell in love with her music when I saw Vermillion Lies open for Amanda Palmer last year. In December, I saw her tweet, “It goes like this: I love food….

I went to the store to get the ingredients for this great salmon recipe in my On the Line, Inside the World of Le Bernardin cookbook and, oddly, my fish monger had no salmon! So this went from a Le Bernadin recipe to a Le Bernadin-inspired recipe. This was night two of my exploration of…

Because of my severe hatred of cheese, olives and peppers,I can't usually do that but the menu accommodated me last night! So much fun.
